World's Largest Catsup Bottle, Illinois, United States

Fun "jumbo" attraction along Route 66

No, it's not filled with catsup--it's a beautifully restored water tower. Unfortunately it's on a busy road, so you can't pull over in front of it. We pulled into a parking lot down the hill and walked back up to it for a photo. Definitely unique!

It’s everything the pictures show it is
Wow! It’s really high! When we came down the hill into Collinsville we saw some people taking a selfie. There is no parking there; good photos are difficult, but we opted for the parking lot of the machinery liquidation company that sits below it. By the way, if they are open, you can see a (large) miniature version in their front doorway. We loved looking at the catsup bottle high in the sky on this warm October afternoon set against the autumn leaves changing. If you want a great photo of it, you really need to be up on the hill and find a parking place on one of the side streets. Check out the ladder that goes from the bottom all the way to the top of the bottle. Another great Route 66 attraction!

Quick Stop at a Roadside Oddity
We were staying nearby and this large catsup bottle was pictured on the wall of our hotel room. Being suckers for a free oddity observance we drove a couple miles out of our way and found this World's Largest Catsup bottle. We remember eating Brooks catsup from our youth. This bottle is a water tower that was erected in the 1940's. It is a favorite stop for folks traveling old Route 66. It even got a mention in the Twilight film. This is a quick stop for your pictures and selfies and moven on. Well perserved for a circa 1940's water tower.
