Garden and Park Gem- unexpected in a great way!
This garden and it's adjoining park are probably the nicest public park I've ever been to. I could have spent all day here if I had come sooner. Doesn't cost anything and you can even bring your pup. Just a great area to relax and unwind and enjoy the beauty.

Central park but Springfield size
If you want a break from the Lincoln history, this park is a grand find. It is a little tricky to navigate with its one way accesses, but it basically is a large loop. Great walking loop that covers the entire park. The botanical gardens are well cared for, and easily accessible to all ages. There is a small indoor garden section, and many smaller outdoor sections, and a labyrinth. There is free parking at a variety of lots that ring the park. The park contains picnic areas, and a well-sized playground with bathrooms near by. Washington Park is free to enter, as are the Gardens.
