Beautiful Paths - Few Birds in the Fall

It was a beautiful Fall sunny day at this Sanctuary and we enjoyed hiking one of the paths. We saw plenty of cows in the out-lining valleys and it was funny to see them watching us, guess not many people around in the area! We only saw a few birds at this time though. If we get in this area again during Spring or Summer, it would definately be worth stopping at. A nice colorful brochure of birds seen and a list of possible ones for your notations along with the trail map is available at the parking lot for your taking. Also, here's a suggestion you may want to note: when starting your hike, look at the position of the farmer's silo by the parking lot as a point of reference as you return.

    Not remarkable
I actually visted here twice. It was totally unremarkable and both were a disappointment. The first time it had rained recently and it was not possible to cross the bridge. So, then I hsd to make a second return trip when it had not rained and I could cross the bridge. When I arrived there were no birds present anywhere. Granted, it was a hot day. There was not a shady place anywhere. There was also nothing to see other than an open pasture. There needs to be some birds present and there needs to be at least one bench added that has shade added before it would be worth a trip back for me. There are much better places to visit in JoDaviess county. Sorry, this is not one of them.
