Ulysses S. Grant Home, Illinois, United States

Interesting glimpse into Grant's family life
This Italianate-style brick house, with original furnishings, looks very much as it did in 1865 when a group of townspeople presented it as a gift to Ulysses S. Grant on his victorious return from the Civil War.

Fairly Interesting and Well-Maintained Attraction
Even though our tour guide was hilariously badly-mannered AND poorly-informed, I really liked spending time in the Grant home and seeing the other exhibits on the grounds, particularly the "Pets of the Presidents" exhibit! The view of Galena from the Julia Dent sculpture on the west side of the premises was especially pleasant too. Will be back...hopefully with a different tour guide leading, this time.

Well worth the time
Definitely worth the time! Our guide was delightful and we enjoyed the house tour with her very much. You can also tour the grounds and some smaller buildings and exhibits by yourself. They request a $5 donation per person.
