Very large monument by well known sculptor Taft

This monument sis actually three statues dedicated in 1916. 1 in bronze and 2in marble by sculptor Lorado Taft. (he is also the one responsible for the 50-feet tall Black Hawk statue on the other side of the river in the Lowden State Park)

    Piece of Local History
    This monument is located on the Ogle County Courthouse square in Oregon, IL. The monument consists of three statues (two marble and one bronze), which were sculpted by Lorado Taft back in 1916. The monument honors veterans of the Civil War and Spanish-American War. The statues and the rest of the monument are kept clean and well-maintained. While not overly complex, it’s an impressive piece of local history to see. Worth taking a moment to stop and see if you’re in the area.
