The Lory Theater, Illinois, United States

5.0 (69 reviews) Spent Ranking #1 in Highland Movie Theaters

Visiting The Lory Theater is more than the average movie going experience!

The newly reopened and remodeled Lory Theater is what all movie theaters should aspire to be! A friendly vibe welcomes you as you walk up to building and even friendlier employees when you walk through the doors. They show the same movies that are showing in the big chain theaters but the tickets and concessions are less expensive. They serve sodas from a local company in Breese (the makers of SKI) and I admire that they are supporting a local business. The employees behind the counter are extremely friendly and personable. You feel like you've made an instant friend! Before the show, the employees come out and perform and when you leave, you get a mint! My family frequents this incomparable establishment and highly recommends that you do too! :)

    Great family fun
So happy the Lory re-opened. This renovated theater continues to keep the small town friendly box office atmosphere. The staff and owners are very appreciative of their guests. They welcome everyone to the show as well as provide pre-show entertainment. Although the theater has recently been renovated, it still has the "old time theater" warmth and appearance. The prices are economical and affordable for the whole family to attend.

    Outstanding!
My son and I have been VERY tickled for the The Lory to re-open under the new owners. The price for tickets is less than the main stream theatres. And you can buy and print them online. Pretty handy. And, the where I wind up spending most of my cash going to movies is the concession stand. The Lory follows their ticket prices with lower priced concessions as well. And, while this is a big deal to me, I realize it may not be for some, but here it is anyway: when they butter your popcorn, they stop filling halfway up, butter it, then fill it the rest of the way up and butter it again. Oh yeah! The theatre has been significantly cleaned up and the sound system I think is superior to others I've been to. But the best part is the staff. They embody that small town friendliness that sounds cliche but is sorely missed elsewhere. Love this place.
