Tons of hiking paths, most are fairly easy to navigate even with younger children. Plenty of playground and grass areas to set up for the day. Also, plenty of parking and great fishing spots along the Fox River.

Simplicity at its best
If you like to travel to parks that aren't overcrowded you will love Silver Springs. There are nice hiking trails, areas for fishing, and picnic areas. In the summer there is boat rental. If you are interested in an easy family friendly canoe ride, rent a canoe in downtown Yorkville and paddle to the park. They will pick you up when you are ready to go back.
