Shore Galleries, Illinois, United States

3.5 (3 reviews) Spent Ranking #3 in Lincolnwood Shooting Ranges

Nice job in refurbishing or remodeling

Shore Galleries is a gun/police equipment store that really fits the bill. All business, but friendly, they recently did a nice job on the second floor range. Ventilation and lighting are excellent. Prices are reasonable.

Great new people friendly gun range
I was invited to a special information class and a tour of the facilities. In the process I was also exposed to three great trainers, who all are excellent. The visit was so good I went back on the weekend to shoot and will now go more often. Nick the owner is friendly, helpful, and knowledgeable. Knowing that CPD officers stop in should make one feel even better, plus you can also enjoy a cigar there. Stop in and you too will become a fan. Ask for training with CZ pistol PETE or Daniel from Davad., or the NAVY trainer. YOU will be impressed and walk away with better knowledge and skills; both important in the use of a weapon, for either sport or personal/home defense.

    Arrogant, Ignorant and Incompetent
I made a terrible error going to this "shop", against the advice of several people. I took a $1300 1911 in to have a ambidextrous safety put on. This is a basic and easy addition. I have had it done four different times by gun shops in other states with zero problems ever, until now. Besides the fact that they told me it would only take a few days, and after going back a week later, it still had not been touched. The guy that works on the guns (not about to call him a smith) told me that they had a big promotion coming up and that he would not have time to "get to it at all"! I asked to speak to the owner. The owner came over and talked to the supposed "gun repair man", and miraculously, he stated he could have it done by the next day. I should have run away at this point. I came back the next day and when my weapon was returned, the new safety did not work! To make things even worse, the owner comes over and tries to convince me that the safety does work, even though it is CLEARLY not engaging! It took about thirty minutes for the owner to realize that I knew the difference between works and doesn't work. He offers me 30 minutes of free range time and a box of ammo, while suggesting that their "gun guy" put back on the original safety! I told him just to put it back the way it was, as clearly these people had no idea what they were doing. I went back the next day to pick up my weapon. The original safety was back on, the weapon had been fired MANY times and was returned to me in filthy condition as well as oil dripping from every spot that it could drip. The owner then proceeded to TAKE BACK the "free range time" AND the "free" ammo that he had offered, AND charged me $65 for the complete mess that they made of my NEW 1911. If you're ignorant about guns, go there. You will fit right in. Also, the prices are so high, you would have to be crazy to purchase a gun from this place. There gun transfer fee is the highest I have ever seen. Find a gun you like at a place like Bud's, on the internet, call around to gun shops for a reasonable transfer fee (I found $20), and save yourself a ton of cash. Arrogant, Ignorant and Incompetent should be the name of this rip off hole in the wall.
