Basil Ale - in a Fairy Tale setting

This hidden tasting room in Ava, Illinois will capture your imagination and taste buds. It’s in a remote location, but I highly recommend plugging it into your maps and finding it. They have a unique offering of beers ranging from the smoky lager to a lavender stout. The farmhouse ale is very good, but the basil ale is the star. They offer wood fired pizzas and flatbreads. I had the the tomato and mozzarella pizza. It was ridiculously simple and extremely flavorful. The place is magic.

Good visit. Overall decent beers
Overall worth the time and energy to get here. Isolated place far from anything. Run down and needs more attention to outside area. Flies were everywhere. Walked in and we weren’t sure if they were open or not. Kind of got a deer in the headlights look from staff. That being said they do a good job with their beer selections and they deserve more attention than they get. Rye beer, beet beer, cucumber beer standouts in construction and taste. Seasonal beers add variety. Again, worth your time just to drill down the list of good breweries in the St. Louis, Illinois area.

Just for Fun
Really neat atmosphere.Not much indoor seating but great outdoor seating. Their own craft beer and soda. Some food. A couple of families had their children.
