Enjoyed the hike and history
This was a really (REALLY!) muddy hike, as there were torrential rains 3 previous nites. But, given this had a place in history as part of the Underground Railroad, we wanted to see it, so we did. It was a very large cave, and definitely can see how people would have used it to 'hide' people traveling the Underground Railroad route. After we were already pretty muddy, we did a bit more hiking on a few trails, traversing a few streams along the way. We were the only people there, and I don't think this is a very used people-trail, but we enjoyed the hike and seeing the bit of history.

Large cave, cool stone cliffs
We decided to visit both Cave-In-Rock and Sand Cave on a particularly sweltering day of vacation. Both are large, single room caverns. Enough similarities we'd only see one or the other if we were to do it again. A dirt road (probably navigable only by high suspension 4WD) at the end of Sand Cave Road leads to the Cave itself. If you go, recommend hiking past the cave along the stone bluff to see large sections of stone sheering away from its face. Just stay back...
