Most enjoyable trail
Salt Creek Trail has multiple sections and this review is for the trail that runs west-to-east from Oak Brook to Brookfield Zoo. The trail starts in Oak Brook where the Dean Nature Conservancy serves as the trailhead. Right away, the trail goes under I-294 next to Salt Creek and then it is smooth sailing without much gradients to Brookfield Zoo trailhead over a distance of seven miles. It is very enjoyable bike ride but for the one major street crossing at LaGrange Road. The trail includes beautiful wetlands, riparian forests, and prairie preserves. The trail is great for walking, running, cycling, and roller skating. It is very popular and could be busy, especially on weekends. The trail is full of wild life including a herd of docile deer, birds, and other critters. A lovely bridge across Salt Creek at Bemis Woods provides access to nature trails. Salt Creek Trail is indeed a thoroughly enjoyable trail.

This trail is fantastic
My husband and I ride bicycles together and this trail is one of our favorites. So many places to hop on the trail and start from. We usually start at the zoo. We enjoy seeing all the wildlife: deer, ducks, geese, squirrels, chipmunks, etc.
