Fun easy hike with the family

Really enjoyed out hike at rim rock. Highlights were fat man squeeze and the ox lot cave. It is a pretty easy hike, a bit of climbing down to get into the canyon and then back up at the end, but rest was pretty flat. Really enjoyed our visit. If you are running short on time, don't worry about the hike to the lake.

    Another great hike in Shawnee
We thoroughly enjoyed hiking these trails. For the most part, it's a very easy hike. If you want to take the stairs to see "fat man squeeze", there is obviously some climbing involved and be careful, as they can be slippery after a rain or if leaves are on the stairs. The cave was interesting to see too. Not as big as some of the other places we hiked, but still worth the time to see it. We started out taking the trail to Pounds Hollow, but after 3 nites of rain, we encountered too much mud to even be able to walk around. We went back and drove the car there instead. I don't know if it's ever very crowded, as we only saw 2 other couples during the entire time we were there. Very quiet and peaceful and as with most parts of Shawnee, many rock formations to see along the trails.

    Lovely Hike in the Woods
Lovely trail, well-groomed but poorly marked. We took a wrong turn and ended up taking a longer hike than planned. Take a photo (on your phone) of the trail map before you head off. Be careful of snakes. Two of us walked over what we later identified as a copperhead. The area is beautiful; the rock formations are amazing. Signage at key areas provides interesting historical context. Parts of the trail are steep (steps) and quite narrow which could be a problem for some.
