Good hiking trails and picnic spots

The north side of this park has many good hiking trails. The south side has horse trails that are marked as good for bicycling too - but they were too muddy now after all the recent rains. The hiking trails were ok now as they are on higher ground. There are two lakes - one having a boat launch and boat rentals during summer,

    Could be so much better
I know we are in the days of a plague. But outdoor entertainment peaked this year. This park could have capitalized on that. But the concessionaires are gone. It is a historically important place - the first lands ceded by Illinois Indians to the US Government. Also it is a geologic anomaly left over from the Illinois Glaciers. It’s a pretty place in the fall.

    Park Needs some attention.
We stayed 3 nights by reservation for the Uncorked Winery festival ..Festival went well ,attendance seemed down from last year but was very nice with good vineyards attending .and the guy with bottled chimes is awesome with great items to purchase. *But the park it self needs some attention..Most Picnic tables are in real bad shape.. The table at Veterans point is a disaster,, rooted through .very unsafe conditions...Few lights around the camp area were burned out where is a need for them.. The men's bathroom needs a good scrubbing..lots of spider webs and spiders even in shower area.. as the 1st shower was not working correctly...and by 4th day was running out of toilet paper..Wife said no complaint on women's bath/shower.., was clean well took care of .The old restaurant not in service sure needs attention.. .Our over all stay was good ,great campers and friendly hosts... We will give it another try late fall for the Berryville event.s and see how it is if any updates.. Happy camping ya'll.
