One of 5 covered bridges left in Illinois

On the way back from Dixon stopped by at this historic bridge. It was built in 1863 during the Civil War and is perfectly restored. It is still open to traffic albeit one lane and there is a park just past the bridge with picnic tables. I wish that more were around though only 5 are remaining in the state. Out of those five it is the only one still open to vehicles. A must see for anyone visiting in the area!!

    A Blast from the Past!
If you are in the area, you must visit this lovely, old, red covered bridge. The bridge is just out the small village of Princeton, IL, and any of the locals will be happy to point the way. The bridge has been well-maintained and is a part of Midwestern history.

Historical places in and around Princeton il
Nice Historic covered bridge. Has recently been repaired and is lovely. It's a good peaceful place to have a picnic or take pictures. We usually go for homecoming and prom pics of our kids and friends. The backdrops are many and very pretty. If your not from the area...when you turn around to go back up hill. Top the hill, if you look right is warnick woods. And if u get to top of hill, go to stop sign and take a left and then right after church on right, is City County Park. It's beautiful check it out!
