Hard to find but worth it
8 of us on a wine trip enjoyed this place. The owner was so knowledgeable about his wines, and very nice. A great variety plus a beautiful place in the woods

Fascinating social experience.
The owners are the highlight. The history of the winery is worth the trip. The wines are atypical. They are all fruit based. This is located on the north end of the wine trail.

Fantastic Apple Winery
I'm a wine snob, self admitted. I go ape for some Napa Cab Franc. That being said, I understand Southern Illinois wines are of the sweeter and fruitier variety. If you come in thinking this will be California wines, you'll be sorely disappointed. Now... this was not my first So IL winery but it's definitely one of our favorites. We LOVED this place! The owner (and I believe his daughter) did our tasting. We went with another couple and between the three of us we had an infant, 4 yr old, and 6 yr old. They gave the kids papers to draw on and we let them smell the wines. The tasting was only 20-30 minutes (need to be quick with kiddos) but it was excellent. We ended up buying three bottles and will visit again for sure. The view in the area and the surrounding atmosphere is downright delightful as well. Go early, avoid the crowds.
