Well maintained parks

We go to all the wonderful parks in Northbrook because they are clean and very well maintained. I highly recommend floral park.

Beautiful well maintained park year round!
Wood Oaks park is a beautiful local hangout. We especially enjoy the 5K events that are held around the park. There's a walking/biking/jogging path all the way around, as well as benches to sit and enjoy the views which include Lake Shermerville. Kids enjoy the vast playground and there are often groups picnicing or simply gathering for an afternoon. In the winter, "the hill" is a favorite sledding destination, though kids can sometimes trample one another if they are unsupervised. Many also use the hill for exercise. There are tennis courts, soccer fields, pavilions, restrooms, and shaded areas.

self-service bicycle repair station donated by George Garner, Jr.
Wood Oaks Green Park has a fabulous DIY feature that should be in more parks, trails, train stations, etc. -- a self-service bike repair station which was donated by George Garner Cyclery. Now cyclists with problems can do minor repairs whilst out instead of having to walk their bikes home. The station has a tire rack, tire pump, tire lever, hex key, wrenches, and screw drivers. The hand-held tools are attached to the station with cords. The time limit to display the Garner advertising logo on the station is five years, so I wanted to mention Garner's generosity in my review. See my June 5, 2018 for more park details.
