Graduation for Dummies

1. Stay in Waukegan at a hotel with a shuttle. Trying to get your own vehicle on base is a pain. 2. Go pick up your tickets the night before and don’t try to go to the base without them… 3. The ceremony doesn’t start until 9 AM, but you will have to get there around seven. Bring cash… They will sell souvenirs in the drill hall. 4. Don’t forget to bring their cell phone with you… They haven’t seen it for eight weeks and if you don’t bring it to them it will be a miserable visit for you! LOL 5. Plan on at least one hour and 15 minutes to get to the airport the next day… and plan to stay the whole day… Their flights don’t start leaving until 1 o’clock in the afternoon or so. Good luck!!

    Graduation
Nice graduation hall/facility. Very crowded. As many graduates that come through here they should have made more seating. It takes a long time to get on base for the graduation. They only use one gate so the line gets backed up for over 3/4 mile. Line up at 6:00am to help beat the line. There is a shuttle service that goes to the local hotels to drive you round trip to graduation. Cost $12 but worth it.
