A little piece of Rome...

I have been going to Marytown for more than 5 years. A little piece of Rome right here in Northern Illinois! impressive Catholic art and architecture, beautiful Liturgy, friendly people. 24/7/365 Eucharistic Adoration. Outstanding Catholic gift shop open weekdays. Beautiful grounds and garden. (Note to "Dan C.": Do you go to a church for fun and snacks and to be entertained? Don't think so! Sorry you were "bored". Go to Great America next time, hey?)

    Maximilian Kolbe, martyr of charity
The shrine is a very beautiful and well kept facility. Very quiet and prayerful in the chapel with the Blessed Sacrament exposed in a huge monstrance above the main altar. The Holocaust museum is very powerful featuring the story of the martyrdom of St. Maximilian Kolbe. Great place for a spiritual boost when in northwest Chicago.

    Beautiful, Peaceful, Holy
Beautiful, Holy Shrine! I went to retreats here when I was younger and they shaped me like no other experience. I am so thankful for the work of the friars and volunteers here. Someone mentioned that it's "boring"- lets be clear, this is a Catholic Church and not an amusement park- but what is "boring" about the Savior of the world being made present in the Eucharist and in Adoration? Please God fill our hearts for love of You and especially the gift of your Holy Presence in the Eucharist!
