Beautiful…. and still sad
We took our kids on a field trip, and the day we ended up here it was lightly drizzling, and overcast…fitting. It was empty and quiet. You are able to tour the building yourself, including where the majority of the family is laid to rest. It felt almost personal and emotional all alone inside. Such an amazing memory made with my kids!

Great stop!
Walked the area and checked out the receiving tomb while waiting for our tour to go inside. All Covid precautions were being followed. Our temperature was taken, everyone had masks on. Only 10 people allowed in the building and we were let in 2 at a time. Very safe and a fun day learning about President Lincoln.

Beautiful Monument
We visited Springfield for the first time. It is full of the history of Abraham Lincoln and we throughtly enjoyed visiting the cemetery to see his grave. There is a self guided tour through this monument making your way to the family graves at the back. It took us about half-an-hour to make our way through reading about each of the smaller statues that are along the walk inside. Once we completed our walk we took some time to drive through the cemetery which is very large and beautiful. Great part of our Lincoln adventure.
