Coon creek campground is very nice

RV camped at Coon Creek campground with friends, sites 137 and 138. Temp was 90 but lots of shade so it was nice. Our side of the road was electric only, other side was full hookup. We had nothing but trees out the back of the camper. Some sites have lake views but I’m sure they fill up fast. Even with a lot of campers it is quiet.

    Great place to spend time
We did not stay at Lake Shelbyville but a short time because we were just on a day trip investigating the area. The lake is beautiful and there are a lot of camping facilities, but the neat part for us was the Visitor Center. The people at the Visitor Center were very helpful and told us all about the lake. There is a small museum of the animals to be found in the area, especially the fish available in the lake. We really enjoyed our time there and appreciated the Visitor Center personnel and their advice.

    Beach closed
Wilborn Creek Beach on the north end of Lake Shelbyville is closed for the entire 2021 season because of budget constraints. My wife and I were very disapointed to see 8 foot tall weeds surrounding the entire beach. Very tall weeds surrounding the bathrooms, playground equipment, and parking lot. Just hate to see this because I can see this being permanently closed if left ungroomed to deteriorate. Wilburn Creek use to have a beautiful secluded pavilion with grills on each end and this was hidden deep into the woods near the group camp ground. A winding sidewalk and a concrete pad are all that is left today. The concrete pad and sidewalk are in very good shape and not a single crack. If give anything to see this being rebuilt today but I better not hold my breath.
