    Great spots to get active!
The great outdoors made safe, clean and fun! Get outside with your family and friends and be active. Some of the preserves are dog friendly, some have activities - canoeing, swimming, biking, etc. Look up all the info you need on the website and visit them ALL.

    unique lake-front forest preserve
Enjoy the cool breezes and negative ions of the 3/4 mile rocky beach at the Fort Sheridan Forest Preserve. You need to hike or bike down from the parking lot. There are two toilets in the lot, but none at the beach. Bring your own drinking water as well. Bird-watch, picnic and/or relax. Enter at Simonds Way, off Sheridan Road. Follow the signs to the parking lot. It's an easy walk down to the lake -- even while pushing your stroller, carrying your chairs, and shlepping your lunch and sunscreen. This is a non-swimming/wading beach. There are no life guards.
