Best Small Town museum--ever!
My aunt and I were fortunate to spend a bit of time at the Kibbe Museum this week. We were both impressed with the quality of the displays. I can unequivocally say that some displays rivel those I have seen in Washington DC. I particularly enjoyed the funeral display--- and the focus upon the different era of the surrounding area. Well done! Well organized! You will need more time than you think, so plan for it! You will not regret it!

An Almost Hidden Treasure!
Whether you made a wrong turn and happened to end up in Carthage, or you are a local, don't pass up an opportunity to visit this important treasure trove of topical history. Housing a veritable plethora of items to stimulate your interest, the Kibbe displays important items relevant to Hancock County and West-Central Illinois. Having served on the Board of Directors of this Museum, I can attest to the quality of its displays, the enthusiasm of the volunteer staff and the welcoming spirit that embraces everyone who enters. The museum is conveniently located directly across the street from the historical Mormon Jail and only 3 blocks from the city square and, admission is free!

Incredible!!
I grew up in Carthage and went to the Kibbe Museum when very young. I remembered the 2-headed pig in a jar and the 2-headed calf. Those memories kept me from re-visiting all this time. Returned this week to a great surprise! The museum is VERY well-curated full of local history and culture. Yes, the 2-headeds are still there, but so much more now.
