Quiet campground with some sloped sites.

This is a nice quiet campground. We stayed there midweek, and there were not many other campers around. I had reserved a spot online, and didn't realize that it was more sloped than I anticipated. This is not a major issue, but took a little longer to set up than anticipated for a single night's stay. Showers were clean, and we chose a spot near so we didn't have to walk far.

    Pretty campgrounds
Three campgrounds are nestled among a larger wilderness area that is home to bike, hiking and horseriding trails. We did not use those so cannot comment on the quality of same, but did overnight at the campground and would like to offer travelers some information about that. Of the three distinct campground areas, located one after another on the same internal road, only one had showers so we chose that area without considering the others. Very few of the sites were level and most rigs will require a block or two under at least one wheel if you have a refrigerator you have to keep happy. Each site has a picnic table, and some have fire rings. The showers were kind of sad. Plenty of water and privacy, but the building's a bit old and dark and you don't want to stay in there any longer than you have to. Still and all, the fee was quite reasonable and the location is good--very accessible from the Interstate, no more than about a ten minute drive, but quiet and well away from any highway noise. The campgrounds hosts were quite friendly and helpful.

State of IL Playing Politics With Parks and Rec!
Jubilee College State Park has the potential to be a premier park. The problem is the State of IL is making a political statement by closing one of their campgrounds with a big sign saying, "Closed due to lack of funding" PULLEASE! You have latrines for toilets and we didn't use the shower house because...oh! it was closed! You are cheaping out! The place is beautiful, peaceful and an easy drive to shopping, dining, etc. in Peoria. The camp host, "Bob" is FABULOUS! He is the guy mowing the property and collecting the money and making us feel welcome. All the rest of the States through which we've traveled have found the value of providing a place for tourists to bring their OUTSIDE MONEY while traveling through their state. By the way....we only got charged $18!!!! for an overnight stay with electric hookup. The State of IL should stop their naval gazing and look to see how their neighbors...IN, MO, IA are running their state parks. I think they will find it is a smart investment of their financial resources.
