Clean terminal, professional staff

I have always had a great experience at Illinois terminal over my 100 or so visits. The terminal is clean, the staff is friendly, and there is plenty of space. My experience with one employee in particular prompted me to write this review. His name is Craig Williams and he went above and beyond to help me retrieve an overnight bag that I had lost on my Amtrak ride. He pulled a lot of strings to get my bag from Amtrak and he had it waiting for me when I arrived at the terminal! His help meant a lot to me, so thank you Illinois terminal and thank you Craig!

    Nice station
This is a nice waiting area for Amtrak. The Amtrak terminal is well run, clean, and safe. This station is much better than many of the Amtrak waiting areas.

    Waiting Room for Mardis Gras
The Illini Terminal is on the Amtrak line. If you ride the City of New Orleans to the final destination or other cities on the way, you may find yourself waiting in the Illini terminal. Likewise Amtrak's Saluki and Illini. Beyond trains, there are buses - lots of them to most points in Urbana and Champaign and beyond. The terminal is more than a waiting room. There is a Subway on the first floor, and a cash station. A transportation office is maintained for Senior Citizens to get their reduced fare or even no-bus-fare passes. An elevator will save the weary from climbing stairs to the platform level. Within close walking distance is Jon's Pipe Shop and numerous bars and restaurants. It also walking distance to Campus Town and the University of Illinois.
