Peaceful, relaxing

We enjoy going and having a picnic and take walks. Love going in the fall, it is absolutely beautiful.

Homer Lake, Forest Preserve
A very well kept preserve, with good fishing. Rentable facilities, from open air pavilion, to a heated and air conditioned building, both, with breathtaking views of Homer Lake. A nice interactive 'natural' play scape. There is a staffed interpretive center, with knowledgeable staff and activities for all! There are plenty of handicap accessible things to do, as well!

Adventure play date
We thoroughly enjoyed ourselves at the Homer natural playscape area! Our children, ages 5 & 7, had so much fun exploring in the stream and rocks, walking across logs, and playing in the sand pit. We brought a picnic basket along and a change of clothes (so glad we did this). If you wander up a short trail next to the sand pit, there are a couple of picnic tables overlooking the lake and are situated under some shade trees. Beautiful view. After exploring this area, we drove around to the banquet hall and saw the beautiful area that surrounds it. Somewhat small park, but well maintained.
