Great day-dive location
Super staff. Training or just a fun day in the water, Haigh is quiet and peaceful day-dive location. I've done almost all my final training there and have spent my share of time hangin' and chillin' with the huge fish population.

Convenient scuba practice destination
Well it's a Midwest quarry, not the Carribean or Hawai or..., so comparing with those destinations is pointless. As such the water is not balmy and the visibility is limited. So why go there? Well for the $20 entry fee you get a practice quarry that you can dive your heart out in w/o having to pay for a boat. You can have a picnic while you are there. You do not share the quarry with fishermen, so no worries about getting snagged by a lure. There are no boats to run you over either. Rentals if needed and tank refills are available on site. For going diving with friends for fun and to hone your skills, it is a good place. If you want to switch off between dives, bring a lawnchair, sit by the waters edge a little off all the gearing up and gearing down activity, look out over the water, relax, it's actually pretty that way.

Good Chicago land training lake
While Haigh can be crowded in the summer, a numbers of attractions, places to practice deep water entries and a vertical rock wall makes this a great place to train. Easy access from the interstate and nearby restaurants add to the attraction.
