Sad to see the mall near its end
It is very sad to see the mall empty. Locals here do not support the mall. They continue to shop at Woodfield or Old Orchard. This mall used to have most of the brand names, now only a few continue the loyalty and have stuck around. This mall is in a very heavy traffic area but unfortunately sees very little business. Thanks to online shopping and neighbors who don't visit, all the small businesses/vendors within this mall will probably face total shut down soon. Remaining large brand stores include, bath body works, target, ross, jc penny, ulta and phone stores like t-mobile.

bright and well-illuminated inside due to skylights and good artificial lighting
The interior is well-illuminated, due to skylights and good artificial lighting. The mall is anchored by AMC, Kohl's, Target, Penney's, Ross Dress for Less, and a soon-to-be-closed Sears. There is a small food court with half-a-dozen choices -- Subway, a Korean BBQ, etc -- a Berrymoon Yogurt and Auntie Annie's nearby, plus a Gloria Jeans's at the Sears end.. There are a few unique shopping opportunities like the brand-new Health Korea Plus (you won't have to travel to L.A. to try out a potential massage chair); a rare brick-and-mortar Avon store; a Paint N Party ceramic studio; etc. You will also find the ubiquitous Ulta, Payless, Bath and Body Works,Claire's, Victoria's Secret. etc. plenty of parking

sooooooooooooo depressing
There are still Pandemic-inspired directional arrows on the mall floors to control foot traffic -- but I encountered less than a dozen pedestrians total in both the south and north wings. When the centrally-located anchor Sears closed in 2018, access through the mall to either end disappeared. You have to go outside and walk or drive and repark to visit the other side of the shopping center. It seems that most of the store fronts are shuttered. Even businesses that profess to still be open were closed and dark. Penney's, Ross, Ulta, Value City Furniture, Target, and the AMC theaters were open. Only the Sephora inside Penney's and Target (its mall entrance closed) were doing any business. Last January there was serious discussion of tearing down the enclosed section of the mall and turning it back into an open-air shopping center. Meanwhile, Burlington and Chick-fil-A will be opening soon -- both with great visibility at the Golf/Milwaukee intersection. This morning I watched workers put up an exterior sign on the Burlington location. Back in the glory days, there used to be a legitimate theater in the round -- the Mill Run Playhouse -- where I saw fabulous performers, including a blockbuster show featuring Steve Lawrence and Eydie Gorme. There was also large and picturesque working water mill with walkways, bridges, and pools. The best improvement for this sad property would be to recreate the the mill.
