Great oasis

Great place to enjoy a quiet hike with beautiful scenery. Loved the variety of wildflowers as well as the different settings from the Marsh to the Kames. Bring mosquito spray. Restrooms in parking lot were well-maintained.

    Hiking and field trips
This is a wonderful place for hiking anytime of the year. When I was teaching, I took 7th grade science students out there to learn about glaciers, erosion and deposition done by glaciers and the life of prairie settlers. When I was a Scout leader and homeschooler with my daughter, we checked out all of the nature boxes that contained enough materyfor at least a week of science lessons in each one. If they are still doing that program, check it out! Great for classroom teachers as well. Excellent example of why we need to support conservation efforts everywhere!

    Best Place in McHenry County
I believe it upwards of 3500 acres. Love bringing the dogs (and pooper bags) to Glacial. Always a great view up the Kames. The trails are nice and the new southern trails are fun to walk. Actually had a huge Elk come out of the woods at the edge of the trail, before we both noticed each other , my dogs literally froze, after a few seconds of stillness he took off back into the trees.
