Galesburg visit

I have just passed by this visitor centre when arriving from the interstate into Galesburg. It's not in the Town-centre but a couple of minutes' drive and Close to Taco Bell on East Main Street. Anyway there is a big chair outside the building so you can't miss it. I have been in touch with the visitor's centre through their web site and by e-mail while asking questions about Galesburg area. I had quick and friendly answers. Since we were going to the USA and Galesburg again last summer I asked for info through their website and like last time I had a package with lots of good stuff, brochures etc for planning the trip . So nice of them to send all that. A big thank you to the visitors' Bureau!

Galesburg's Place in the History Books
Not only do you find where the restaurants are and where the motels are but you learn about the incredible past Galesburg has had in forming this country. Galesburg is home of Carl Sandburg and Mr. Ferris, who invented the Ferris wheel, the underground railroad, a brick yard that provided bricks to build the Panama Canal. There are so many more displays and history to explore. The Convention Center is a must see.

Most comprehensive vistors center I've been to
We stopped by the Visitor's Center based on the recommendation of my mom's friend. It was very well done. It had the things you expected in a visitor's center, but then it took it a step further and had displays of Ronald & Nancy Reagan, Carl Sandburg, and other famous people that I didn't know spent time in Galesburg. I was amazed at the amount of history this town has.
