A Viking Ship in the great plains!
Cool gem. This is an authentically made viking ship that was made for the World's Columbian Exposition in 1893 in Chicago based on the Viking ship Gokstad that was found in Norway. They actually sailed this ship from Norway to Chicago and then down to New Orleans along the Mississippi river and then back to Chicago. When I visited, there was an intro given outside. Then a group is let in where you walk around the ship. There is an elevated platform on one side so you can look in. The guides shared a lot of interesting information about the history of the ship, and how it came to be in Geneva as well as the construction and use of the ship.

Authentic & historic Viking longboat that traveled the Atlantic to the 1893 World's Fair
We abso;utely loved this! There were several free displays of Viking toold, weapons, clothing and ship building techniques. The 30-40 minute presentation of the actual longboat cost $6 for adults & was well worth it. It included a video and info on the voyage across the Atlantic. We thoroughly enjoyed this historical display.
