Amazing, healthy hike.

This Illinois nature area is a wilderness area. The West entrance has parking an ADA trail to a large, natural spring. The area boasts a long foot trail with 60/70 foot elevation changes. Wild flowers, deer, fox, a cave and an outcropping of the oldest stone in Illinois. Just beautiful.

    We like the hike
Whenever we have a summertime visit to the area, we enjoy the woodsy trail at the state park; have enjoyed this for the past fifteen years or so. Wear shoes that can get wet if you follow the trail across the stream. Note that you end up at a different place from where you start, so arrange for a drop-off and pickup ... or just stay on the short, paved portion of the trail for an easy walk in the woods.
