Very interesting

The Ellwood House Museum is a historic site situated on ten acres of parkland in the heart of DeKalb, Illinois. The museum campus consists of seven historic structures, including the 1879 Ellwood Mansion and 1899 Ellwood-Nehring House, four gardens, and 6,000 square feet of exhibit space in the Patience Ellwood Towle Visitor Center, a converted and expanded 1912 multi-car garage. Originally built for barbed wire entrepreneur Isaac Ellwood, the Mansion was home to three generations of the Ellwood family from 1879 to 1965. The museum's parking lot is located at 420 Linden Place, DeKalb, IL.

    Elwood Museum Tour
Spending the weekend in Dekalb is a great opportunity to see this remarkable historic site. We were fortunate to have Ellen as our tour guide as she shared her storytelling of the Ellwood Family and the beautiful home built in the late 1800's. Their lives and accomplishments were part of the tour of the four story home that family memories from three generations are present for your viewing. We reccomend visiting this site when the opportunity arises. Dan & Betsy from Cary, Il.

    A classic beautiful mansion
This is a house with four stories of history and several generation's family behind it. The house is beautiful, and from the attic to the basement are stories of the family whose history shaped DeKalb and the Midwest. The tour is suitable for all ages, & can be adapted for those who do not relish stairs. Don't forget the playhouse!
