De Immigrant Windmill, Illinois, United States

4.5 (72 reviews) Spent Ranking #1 in Fulton Historic Sites

An amazing place

I had a presentation at the Windmill Cultural Center but we arrived early so we went to the windmill and had a tour. It is just amazing and everyone is so knowledgeable, warm and friendly.

Authentic working windmill built in the Netherlands
This is an authentic working windmill that was built in the Netherlands, shipped over and reconstructed by Dutch workers. When the wind conditions are right it is still used for grinding and you can go inside and see how it operates. There is a nice walking trail along the levee behind the windmill. There is plenty of parking and admission is free although there is a donation box.
