Beautiful forest preserve with historic buildings

Love this place for walks all year round. Has it all - nature center, trees, open spaces, river and historic buildings including schoolhouse, big red barn and old guest house. The buildings are open at limited times, so check ahead if you really want to tour, but this is a beautiful preserve to wander, and to just admire the buildings from outside in such a lovely setting.

    Nice nature center
This is a nice nature center to visit. It isn't huge, so its a perfect place to entertain the kids for an hour in between things. There are no live animals inside, but they have some neat displays. The river ecology is particularly interesting. In particular my kids enjoyed the puppet center and the art station. The art station had a large variety of tracings you can do and stamps. The grounds are quite nice. We visited the river in the back. Unfortunately on the day we visited they had a large cross country race going on so we were a bit limited on where we could visit.

    Excellent
My young children and I love Creek Bend. There are grounds to play on, trails to hike, and historical buildings to tour. The indoor nature center has exhibits with plenty of things to touch. Personally, my children (1-6) can spend at least an hour with the puppets, microscope, crayon rubbings and the exhibits. Great free outing for inclement weather.
