Lots of finds--but no sterling silver napkin ring holders
As my wife and I travel around the state of Illinois and around the country, we're always on the lookout for interesting antique shops. Originally, our quest was to collect as many sterling silver napkin ring holders as we could find. Well, we have over 50 but haven't been able to add to our collection in recent years. So we set out to uncover other unique and interesting objects, like old books and glassware. Our motto: You never know what you'll find until you find it. Most interesting of all are some of the antique shops we have discovered. Like the Country Fixins Primitives Antique & Craft Mall in Pittsfield, Illinois. Located one mile north of Pittsfield on U.S. Route 54 or three miles south of I-72 off exit 35 at 8 East Industrial Park Drive, it is a 5,000-square-foot facility featuring collections and hand-crafted wares from over 40 dealers. You'll find early American wares, vintage collectibles, furniture, hand-crafted items, hand-made quilts, country cupboards and decor, jewelry, clothing, shelving, tables and tableware, pantry dips, jams and Amish food items. New arrivals are on display almost every day. And don't forget to come on Friday, when fresh baked goods are available, including pumpkin bread, peanut butter fudge and cinnamon rolls. When we visited, the newest and most popular arrivals were one-of-a-kind barn quilts (hand pieced with unique patterns made of individual pieces of wood). an old butcher's block table, a cast iron collection, old license plates, a huge variety of crocks from one to 20 gallons, a Pedestal Harvest Table that seats 8 to 10, wool and cotton rugs, runners and table top decor and old flat top trunks. The old butcher's block table is reminiscent of the block that Otto Demke has in his 100-year-old butcher shop on North Halsted in Chicago. You don't see those kind of things any more. But there are lots of those kinds of things at Country Fixins in Pittsfield.

    Great little treasure
We were visiting Pittsfield and came across this store on trip advisor. I love these kind of stores. They had a wide selection of decors, gifts, and holiday items. I purchased many items that day. The ladies were super friendly and helpful. Would defiantly recommend visiting this store.
