Popeye and view of the Mississippi

Right off the main highway coming into Chester from Missouri. Welcome center has a 15-minute (guessing) movie on the history of the area. Great view of the Mississippi. Clean restrooms. The big attraction is the Popeye statue and a history of Popeye (the creator was from Chester). Great for a 20-minute stop to learn the area, Popeye, stretch, and get some fresh air.

    Nice little stop!
    You just can't miss it! This little welcome center is just across the Mississippi River bridge going into Chester, Illinois. Look for the big statue of Popeye out front. Clean restrooms, too!

    NICE NICE NICE
    Can't say enough good things about the Welcome Center in Chester and the gentleman who helped us with all of our touristy questions. It was pouring down rain the day we went to Chester but it didn't dampen his spirits nor ours. The Center has lots of local history as well as available brochures of other things to do in the area.
