Our favorite local brewery!

We became mug holders on our second visit to this Steampunkesque tap room because we loved the beer so much! The Mad Scientist brews live up to their names and there's always something new to try. They also always have porters, all year long, which is uncommon and we are so grateful! We live about twenty minutes away and end up making the trip about once a week or so. You can also order in from some great restaurants down the street. Definitely worth a visit!

    More Good Beer!
Just can't keep up with all the good beer that is being made all over the state of Illinois. Every time I take a short road trip, I come across another great taproom where I really wouldn't expect to find one. Cademon Brewing is a great little brewery, just off the beaten path.

Stout Heavy, but a fun vibe
I'm fond of this place. Cool little spot in an otherwise boring little town. Great old bar with nice wood carvings, requisite pressed tin ceiling, tupperwares full of pretzels and snacks you can help yourself to like at your grandma's house. The beer is not bad. An awful lot of stouts--which is unusual. No big hop bombs which is a hole they ought to address. Some stunt beers like a chocolate mint stout which unfortunately tasted exactly like you think it will. Personally not a fan of chili in beer but they had a chipotle and jalapeno infused beer which smelled earthy and finished with just a little heat. It was actually very good. No food but you can get food brought in from a couple of different places. We chose Corner Grill and that was okay. Food was delivered but it didn't come with setups so one of us had to walk down the block to get napkins and forks and stuff. I'd come back but order from somewhere else. They also make pop (what we midwesterners call "soda.") I didn't have any but some kids came in and they seemed pretty happy so if you've young'ns you go right ahead and bring them.
