Cache River Basin Winery , Cabin, Restaurant & Bike Trail.
Stayed in the cabin at the winery. Boondock cabins. Clean comfortable and quiet up on the hill behind the winery. Winery was open until 5 and restaurant is open on the weekends. There was also a couple camping there and we met them at the winery. Members of Harvest Hosts Camping Group. This winery was a member which I didn't know. Future reference item for return visit. Makes his own wine too. Bought several local kinds and some for gifts. This prallels the Tunnel Hill Bike Trail also. Trailhead is about 1/4 mile directly north of the winery past the church. The owner gave us directions. Had no idea it was so close. We rode all the way through Belknap and Karnak. Later rode north to Vienna. This was great as we took our bikes. Also we didn't have time but after you ride to Karnak you can ride to the wetlands also. Already planning on going back. The weather was beautiful and sunny! How great for November! Hidden Gem
This winery is out of the way of the traditional southern IL wine trail but we'll worth the drive. A lovely setting surrounds you with glass windows on 3 sides of the restaurant. A huge deck sits below a wrap around deck with plenty of shade with a nice cool breeze. I love the variety and quality of wines along with full bar options including beer. You will not regret driving out into the rural area to visit this place!

Great selection of wines
Cache river is a small winery that is located about 5 miles south of Vienna Il on Rt 45 right across from the Heron Pond entrance. Jack Dunker is the owner and is very knowledgeable about his wines. He has names some of his wines to reflect the region where he is located such as Cottonmouth White, Copperhead Red, and Swamp water. He has over twenty wines to choose from. There is also a restaurant located on the property that is open on the weekends and he has just starting having live music on Saturday nights.
