Burden Falls, Illinois, United States

4.5 (15 reviews) Spent Ranking #1 in Eddyville Waterfalls

Fabulous Little Adventure!

We hiked around here with three 9 year olds. There are two different waterfalls. One is decent size and the other is smaller and wider. The trail is a little rough and steep in places. There are trees that have fallen over parts of it so you do have to climb over these if you want to travel further. Our kids loved climbing up the side of the big waterfall and hopping on stones to get across a creek.

    Very nice falls
Great falls as it had rained a few nites prior to our visit, so the water was flowing. You can see the falls from the (small) parking area on top, but if you can make the trek to the bottom, you'll have a great view of the triple falls. There are no designated trails there, but plenty of 'people trails' to help you find your way down. We started on the left of the falls, but it was REALLY muddy and we couldn't find a way to make our way down. We went back to the main area by the parking lot and went around to the left of the falls and were able to navigate our way. Well worth the trek. So peaceful 'down' there and made for great photo ops. Thoroughly enjoyed it.

    Nice little hike.
Great little hike around the waterfalls. We were lucky enough to go on a Monday early so there was nobody around. The hike was along a bluff, then down to the canyon floor back to the start and the small waterfalls. Very nice hike.
