    Loveliest Day in Paris
We visited on New Years Day. As we stepped from the stairs of the Metro, imagine our delight to step into a wonderland! There was an old fashioned fair going on. Unexpectedly, we were enchanted. After a snack, we walked to the Sacré-Cœur Basilica, which is quite a walk uphill, just so you know, and were enchanted again. My daughters walked up to the dome and were treated to a lovely view of Paris. After filling my stomach with a ham and egg crepe, we left to go back to our hotel. The metro has a 146 step climb to the street but you're treated to really terrific murals as you climb. If you don't want to do the stairs, there is another metro stop, but I'm not sure which is which. If you don't want to climb, you should find out! Also, for a one way metro fare you can take the Funicular up or down to the Cathedral from the street if you're tired of climbing. Take the Funicular anyway. After all, it's a FUNicular!

    An artsy and pleasant walk
After visiting The Basilica of the Sacred Heart of Paris, I wandered down the cobblestone streets, checking out the souvenir shops and many, many restaurants that lined the narrow streets. I ended up at the Place du Tertre where artists displayed their wares and skills with a pen and pad of paper. Apparently, caricature is the way to get customers as artists hustled for patrons, including me. Some artists drew conventional portraits, which intrigued me more, but I didn't have time to stop and get my portrait done. The vibe is old timey, fun timey, charming, with a commercial and capitalistic atmosphere, which is understandable. The walk was enjoyable, checking out the shops and the vibe was positive, electric, the hustle and bustle energizing and positive.
