Great summer fun!

We visited Boise in July and was happily surprised to find so many summer activities happening at Bogus Basin. We rode the mountain roller coaster and one of the ski lifts, both of which were very fun. It seemed to be priced a bit high (roller coaster was $25 for one person in a car + $15 for a second person and $15 per person for the ski lift), but it was enjoyable. The views from the top of the ski lift were great and the roller coaster was certainly memorable. Each car can be controlled individually by the driver with a brake so if you get going too fast, the driver of the car can slow it down. Other activities were mountain bike trails with plenty of bikers enjoying the paths and jumps as well as a small hill where kiddos got to ride inner tubes.

Great place to snowboard and visit your kido at BSU!
This is a great mountain to snowboard or ski. I flew in for the weekend to spend it snowboarding with my son who attends BSU. What a geat resort! The ski lifts look new, they have several quad speed chairs that take you to the top of the mountain fast, the staff and crew are very friendly and helpful in getting the lines moving. I was also able to get a free all day pass because I flew in on Alaska Airlines....brought my boarding pass and they gave me a fee ticket. I'll be back for sure, next time I'll fly in on the early flight, get a free ticket that day and fly back out that night.

A TOP Value and a Best Kept Secret for Skiing
Winter sport enthusiasts might not realize what a gem Bogus Basin in Boise, Idaho is...and the pun is intended because Bogus Basin Recreation Area is in the city of Boise in the great state of Idaho (nicknamed the GEM STATE). You can still get lift tickets from around $100 (a bargain in the US) at Bogus, and you can visit the area for picnicking and biking in the summer. So, it is an all season resort. The popularity of Boise has been steadily increasing for decades, and the crowds are starting to show. Just arrive on the mountain early (especially critical in winter on the weekend and on holidays). The ski school is solid, and the mountain has snowshoeing and nordic skiing, in addition to alpine skiing and snowboarding. Boise might not be the first city you think of for a ski vacation--but with a close-by local airport and an easy drive to the slopes, it is worth considering. And nothing will beat the value.
