The Grand Canyon of Zhangjiajie, Hunan, China

A great day out!

A must see if you are visiting Zhangjiajie area - as long as you have strong knees as there are loads of steps, unless you take the zip wire across the canyon and slide down the cliff! The glass bridge is impressive and, for a vertigo sufferer like me, much less scary than I had imagined. Make sure to exit (different place to entrance) via the riverside walk and boat trip at the end as this means you will experience all the scenic variety. The park felt more professional than Wulingyuan Scenic Area and was thankfully less overrun with noisy tour groups, even though we visited at the start of the summer holidays. There are lot of food stalls at the exit but almost none in the park which is actually an advantage. About half an hour from Wulingyuan and you can take in Huanglong Caves on the way back

    Lots of thrills..
The glass bridge is impressive, and there are enough “solid” areas to walk on if you suffer from heights. Very much the area for fun, with a 260m Bungee jump, a slide across the canyon and other activities. The marble slides are a lot of fun. Finish your day with a walk along the beautiful stream. You only need a morning or afternoon for this place, so good to combine with another activity.

Dont waste your time - oh and no cameras allowed, only phone cameras!
We arrived at this attraction on the way back to the airport. We arrived at the entrance and joined a queue of a couple of hundred people. Nobody knew what was happening or how long we would be stood there for. After an hour and a half of waiting the doors finally opened and we were allowed in. The bridge was a glass bridge. There is an area along the side where those who cannot face walking the glass bridge can walk. Then there was a further walk (or pay extra for elevators, zip lines and slides) of about 2 hours that bought you back to the start where the driver was waiting.
