    awesome
    no matter where you go in the phoenix city, the view and the atmosphere are great.I don't know why western tourists almost don't go there.

    The old city
    Paying 148 RMB for the entry, I think is worthwhile as the city was kept clean and save. I drove from Changsha and stayed in fenghuang for two nights. The 6 hour journey in highway is easy but not until you reached the old city vicinity. The signs to the old city is confusing and we spent quite some time to locate the hotel. Many old people approached us by bring us into the old city by paying only 40RMB but we refused. The whole old city is small but is preserved very well. The old charm remains. We got a guide to lead us to the various points and it is worth as you may miss some interesting places if you wondering yourself. Food inside the city is lousy. People are friendly even though you do not buy from their shops. Thumb up Don't rush while seeing the city . Put in your imaginations and related how people lived in that time. Though commercial but you still can find the originality. Every corner is photogenic. Spend some time during night time to watch the lights.
