Beautiful. One-of-a-kind experience. Perfect timing. Duration of tour just right. No regrets at all. Highly recommended. When I booked this tour via KKDay, I requested for an English tour guide. Turns out we didn’t really need a guide. We were promptly picked up at the Century Royal Hotel which was just two blocks from our hotel. The bus ride to Lake Shikotsu took a little over an hour. After stepping out of the bus, we were given exactly two hours to explore the place on our own. Within those two hours, we were able to capture the changing colors of the sky, the sun, and the ice. Don’t miss out on this. I plan to bring my family here soon.

Spectacular side trip
Even though the weather was cold and damp, the short drive to the lake is well worth the effort. The Visitors’ Center is fascinating, with plenty of English translations for the exhibits. The views, when the sun came out, were spectacular and show just how volcanic activity in Hokkaido has influenced life here. The maples were blood red in their fall foliage.
