Well we found this on the second attempt to Kogen. The weather was good but broke down and one got fully wet. The coach parties of hikers vanished when the weather broke down. Good pictures.

Early to mid Sept for the best Autumn foliage, early Oct was rewarded by first snow!
Currently we can only do half of the circular loop then same way back due to some parts were damaged by typoon. The est. time is 2 hours. The last entrance time is 1pm and we must return from the half way point at 3pm. No need to attend the bear education talk because bears are only active in the area in summer. Nonetheless, we must register at the bear info center because the trail starts right behind it. It was an easy yet pleasant walk although the entire trail was very muddy. A little surprised and disappointed to find out that in here early Oct is already late for autumn leaves. According to this year's autumn photos at the Daisetsu Kogan Onsen, early to mid September is the peak time for autumn foliage.
