Time your visit to watch the performance
It is best to time your visit to watch the show. I was there at 0845hr, but the first show starts at 0930hr. Hence I proceeded to visit the Shaolin Temple first. After that I needed to walk back to watch the 1030hr show. To have a good seat in the middle, I recommend to queue up at least 15mins before show time. It was crowded with local tour groups. Though the hall can seat approximately 150 person, the middle section is filled up very quickly. The martial arts show was entertaining and impressive. The performers must have spent many hours daily practising kung fu for many months in order to do the stunts. The show lasted 30mins, which is sufficient to appreciate Shaolin kung fu. Fyi, the show times are 0930hr, 1030hr, 1130hr, 1400hr, 1500hr and 1600hr, with additional 1700hr slot during summer.

30 min shows
We were here by Sept 2015. We have to wait outside the theater for 20 min before the show started. Everyone pushing and rushing each other when going inside in order to get a good view seat. The show time is 30 min. There was a game that audiences were invited to the stage to learn Kungfu from the monks, very funny and interesting. The MC spoke Mandarin during the show therefore if you don't understand sure less fun. Since this is including in the ticket, so just watch it ! Don't waste the chance !

A bit disappointing, more like acrobatics
If you decide to watch the performance try to get a seat on the ground floor. I went immediately to the second floor thinking the viewing would be better but I think it was a lot worse due to the low hanging ceiling. The performance was okay with some interesting demonstrations. I think they change it up frequently so hopefully you will have better luck. There were no demonstrations of strength like smashing bricks or trees which I found disappointing. At one point they invite people up on stage to try and mimic the monks. It’s a bit gimmicky.
