I beg folks to at least pass by this stunning architectural marvel in downtown Helsinki and take a pic or two—need not enter at all. The spacious outdoor plaza area in front of the cathedral is perfect for people-watching, photo-snapping, and relaxing. When I visited later in the evening (around 9pm), the area was completely deserted…while I’d have thought it would’ve felt eerie, the vibe was actually impeccable for me, since any ambient noise and crowds were nonexistent. The opportunities I had for pictures were second to none. Considering it’s free to check out and truly beautiful, I can’t recommend the Helsinki Cathedral enough.
