I visited this cathedral in the evening. It was beautiful with the lighting, providing an atmosphere of serenity & romance. As a major attraction, expect the surrounding square to be lively. If your time permits, suggest you visit during the day as well as evening to fully appreciate its beauty.

    Russian architecture in central Harbin
    Impressive architecture and church is located at big square and I took a walk around the area for about 30 min. Went once in evening to take some photos and came back with tour group the next day where church was also open to visit. One of the buildings you should see when in Harbin.

    Unchanged for the better
    Since last visit 10 years ago, I was really surprised to see that very little had changed with the cathedral itself. Nowadays it will cost you 20RMB to enter and a lot more tourists however the "distressed" inside remained very much as it was in my head. When we visited there was a chap playing classical piano inside that added a lot more to the experience than you would imagine, it wasn't over the top, very subtle and well worth a visit.
