Pilgrimage destination, for Buddhists
We went to Putuo mountain by coach, approximately four hours from Shanghai plus a brief ferry trip. The scenes are clean, views are splendid with many temples and huge Buddhas to visit. Downside to this was the lack of non-tourist oriented restaurants (meaning high prices for grease spoon food) and very average hotels.
