relatively easy walk to crater, nice views
The volcanic "mountain" is may a couple thousand feet high but there is a well designed and maintained trail to get to the top. There's a steeper climb too which you can go up or down depending on your energy. Once on top you can walk around the rim. There are lava fields around the mountain. There's a fair bit of vegetation as well so it's rather scenic, unlike so volcanoes where it's just lava.

Unique?
It might not be unique but most of us cannot view a recently extinct volcano so easily...or is it extinct??? !!! The 'Sea of Rocks' ...old lava flows, are quite impressive Access is quite easy, once you get to this somewhat out of the way part of China and handle the issues (fun experiences?) associated with that!!
